Preamble:
Hope for
AIDS Orphans Uganda began as a small love driven charity under Sanon Muyaka in
his two roomed house with his wife Mary where he took in four orphans in late
2009. And with time, the room was not enough and he rented an extra room so that
this could act as a dormitory for the growing number of kids. They could barely afford a bed so
the kids slept down for the structure provided enough shelter from the rain and
cold. This was also important in security of the kids for the nights. As a
humble and committed social worker in the community, soon his voice as an
advocate for the vulnerable groups was heard by William Birch from UK who
intervened and extra rooms were acquired. Feeding and schooling was a problem
for by then the kids with needs under HOFA’s responsibility were growing in
number. Special thanks to this team of people who have stood the test of time
till to date in support of HOFA/ABODE.(Beverley Landis [US], Carol
Mitchell[UK], Hayley Tuite[UK], Viola[US],Joan[UK],Clare[UK]) and Lisa[UK].
This has made the future of the kids here at HOFA clearer through providing
education, shelter and food.
Current
Now the
Ugandan chapter boasts of an organized working force, with determined
volunteers who love to see these kids grow into better citizens. The struggle
to shape the children and give them hope from their dark pasts is still on and
we are proud to say great progress has been registered.
The team
is led by Sanon [Director], Mary [Secretary], Holiness [Admin and Pastor], Annet
[HRO], Rehema [Community Worker], Affiah [Social Worker], Jimmy [Child Welfare]
and Ruth [ Cook].
Conclusion Remarks
United we
can be able to move the mile and set a milestone for the next generation to
carry the baton. Come join and let’s do it together!!!
“Love
is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and
love are the same -- with charity you give love, so don't just give money but
reach out your hand instead.” ― Mother Teresa
